Dr. Robert Wertheimer


Dr. Wertheimer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Wertheimer is double board certified, having completed training in both Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center in New York where he served as chief resident.


Dr. Wertheimer is in private practice and a founding partner of Essex Eye Physicians, with locations in West Caldwell and Montclair. He specializes in medicine and surgery of the eyes and has performed thousands of surgical and laser procedures including no-stitch cataract surgery and bladeless LASIK. He also spent several years at a regional trauma center and has extensive experience is treating traumatic eye injuries.


Dr. Wertheimer is a diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
